@eunews someone should tell hungary they're free to leave the EU.
Media pluralism is *literally* what media freedom is. If you're against media pluralism, you're AGAINST media freedom, if anything
@jhavok @eunews exactly, and I honestly loathe the way media is quoting him and thereby his propaganda, implying that there is somehow a difference between 'media pluralism' (which again *literally*, according to the dictionary, means media diversity/freedom), and 'media freedom', which is just his way of saying he should be allowed to dictate what's said.
@gamingonlinux 100% agreed, a friend of mine went back to Mint with its ancient packages over this, and I can't even blame them
@fedora needs to see this before it turns into a PR issue
@gamingonlinux @fedora I should note though, you CAN try downgrading the package with something like `dnf downgrade mesa`, at least the repos have older versions available
@volpeon @lanodan it's somewhere hilarious to think that "smart" these days implies "we've devolved back to mainframe style architecture and actually this is as dumb as a terminal can get, but if the mainframe is up it can do things!"
@kaia this legit increases the value though
look, I know what the statistical odds are (approximately near-infinite to 1)
but hear me out:

is there really no way to get multiple profiles working in the official mastodon app? that kinda sucks, I guess I'll go back to Tusky then? why is it so hard to get software that ticks all the boxes and not just some with glitter, i don't care about the glitter, but yea i guess everyone has different priorities these days :blobcatpensive:
@GossiTheDog oooh I got 2 out of 3! not bad :dragon_uwu:
@selzero I keep seeing this saying but I actually think that's terrible advice for people suffering from anxiety xD
I think I'd rather say "live your life such that if an escalator stops, your first thought is to help the person beside you, not to blame them."
which is maybe less catchy but I think it avoids the 'what if everyone hates me' kinda thoughts I guess? but maybe that's just me lol
In the Netherlands it seems like they've started calling gardens where people put down a big patio and there's no more green "versteend". Which is logical in dutch as it means "stonified" basically, but it also translates to "petrified", and I kinda love that? I'm definitely going to start calling such gardens "petrified" because that's kinda what they really are? It's as if Medusa passed by and put a stop to all life in your garden lol.
I appreciate how a lot of people right now, rather than once again bowing to the demands of Microsoft changing Windows again for the worse, actually consider the Windows 10 EOL the 'Linux switchover date' rather than the 'Windows 11 switchover date'.
I can only say thank you, and I hope you'll find it easier than you expect.
If not, feel free to ask me absolutely anything; any question no matter how 'stupid', I'm happy to help.
Let's beat the corporate forced switches together. We can do this
@nixCraft wish I could do this
I really really wish that "human rights" weren't considered "only for the good people".
Everyone has human rights. No exceptions, no matter how vile they are. Otherwise they are void, they stop existing as rights, they're just a suggestion if someone's nice enough.
Even aside from the cognitive dissonance argument (what IS "good", but a subjective assertion based on your own ideals?), if you want humanity to be civilized, you can't make any exceptions to your moral rules
"why would I want humanity to be civilized when they're bad anyway"
Aside from that being an excuse to uphold a self-reinforcing downward spiral to make everything bad and ignore all rules and moral obligations, you also can no longer hold others accountable for when they do things you hate "but it's okay if they're bad", because in their eyes, you're bad.
I totally get the desire to violate human rights on your enemies, but it means you will forfeit your own human rights

all I can think of is
@bmacDonald94 I prefer hoping for the best rather than expecting it, so I don't get sad when my life (and my house) inevitably can't fit all of my ambitions :P
