I wish people understood the difference between "tech" and "nightmarish pipedreams made up by shareholders who's only incentive is to make number go higher at any cost, ESPECIALLY if that cost is shitty user experience, paywalls, forced account creation and tying and spying with it into the device and cutting corners".

Tech is effin cool, is everything YOU want it to be, it's simple things that make your life objectively better and only ever better. It goes wrong when shareholders get involved.
