@Jain @thenexusofprivacy fits more with the ethos of the Fediverse than simply everyone having relationships with everyone. Isn’t the whole point not to mirror Twitter’s town hall? Allowlist makes sense & provides users & admin more control. Allowlist is more reflective of how people have relationships in real life. Isn’t the Fedi always going on about consent-based social networking?

@Jain @thenexusofprivacy This is nonsense, create criticism and offer no solutions simply because someone can screenshot. People can legally obtain guns and commit harms so there should be no laws as deterrence nor justice for victims since people can get around things?
If one screenshots then it becomes obvious to others that the person has gone around the block & provided a screenshot. That has societal ramifications. Federation was never meant as so “town hall” thus having allowlist actually

There’s several reasons as to why not build on AP but I’ll narrow them down to two. Tech debt and cultural debt. Many people here are anti-capitalist & anti Dorsey. Out of their own principles they never would’ve adopted bsky implementation of AP. That team was hired & given millions. That would be a waste to develop something that many would have fought them on & not used anyways

@feditips you should correct without losing their followers. They may move to an instance where it’s defederated from an instance they had followers on their previous account without issue. Also, they should be aware migration isn’t always the smoothest and isn’t guaranteed

@anarchopunk_girl He’s been under attack for a long time and this is nothing new. It’s why his PlayViscious instance shut down. Was the criticism constructed towards TBS? Cause if not then you make a terrible point. It’s one thing to take issue with a tool it’s a different beast to verbally attack someone. If people get banned for their poor behaviour that’s on them
