@jwildeboer this story is extraordinarily stupid (as far as the government goes) because the goal of #OLPC was to improve education, and then the government fumes because their population starts to make educated decisions...

@jwildeboer yeah I also remember there was a huge outcry that it would destroy the mobile devices market and people should rather pay hundreds of Euros for Hardware they don't need to "not upset the market" 🤮

@malwaretech in all honesty, I DISABLED IPv6 after I noticed that it essentially 'makes NAT obsolete' - and at the very least allows enumeration of devices in my network.

@GossiTheDog microsoft in general is in a really sorry state, I really wonder when and why they lost their focus on quality. I now almost daily see typos in their texts, links going to nowhere, half-cocked features in Teams that are implemented so shoddy that everybody is undoing them, performance issues in azure, you name it. If it wouldn't have such a profound impact on all of us I'd feel sorry for them

@david_chisnall @GossiTheDog not on this level. When I started my career 2007, whenever we had an issue with the OS, we assumed us to be the culprit. Nowadays, no day goes by without a MAJOR screwup by Redmond, to the degree that I am actually happy every single day to no longer use Windows. There definitely is a break somewhere in those 17 years

@GossiTheDog serious question, how could Microsoft let such a debacle unfold? How is it even possible, it's not like they have their cloud services only since yesterday?

@Gargron I find it amazing also on YouTube. I watch some people that monitor the current war situations in ukraine and the middle east and they can't use the words "kill" or even "terrorist", "hamas", "hezbollah" and more without at least getting demonitized or blocked. It is complete bonkers and only going to get worse with every state in the world now taking shots at forbidding unwanted things

@linuzifer ja. NIS-2 hat hier glaube ich der IT Branche einen Bärendienst erwiesen. Zwar sind FOSS Maintainer nicht an die Weisungen mit Schwachstellen Management und so gebunden, wohl aber die Unternehmen, die die Software einsetzen. Und ich kenne Unternehmen, die klar davon ausgehen, dass sie Anspruch auf kostenlosen Support der Maintainer haben und den auch einfordern. Bekommen sie ihn? Meistens nicht. Macht das psychisch was mit den Maintainern? Hell yes.

@GossiTheDog yes. And that is (in my opinion) reason enough alone to flat out ban twitter from the european market for starters. But that again is unrelated to this individual guy receiving money for his content. On the scale of Twitter it's just statistics, keep in mind that the public safety teams were basically completely culled. I'm very certain that while Musk revels in the kind of crowd he is enabling, the actual company knows jack shit about anyone unless poked by the law.

@GossiTheDog yes but the paying contract is regardless of what the content is about. I mean they would pay him even for posts that are completely irrelevant to the charges of inciting violence, as long as they drive engagement. He's a Twitter Influencer 🤷
