@eaton from what I understand a lot of the black-box nature of these algorithms stems from basically not being able to do this. This is not to say it's not solvable, although possibly it requires rewriting how the training works. Likely it will require reverse engineering of obscure categorization being done by these models, and at a guess assigning newly made up terms for what they are doing. Possibly then bridging those terms into more readable ones. It's a fascinating question for sure.

@BethanyBlack this is a pretty good summary of how I feel, I generally like my country, I think it could be a lot better, and maybe we can't have fewer a-holes but they should at least STFU and who knows maybe they'll realize being an ass is not a replacement for a personality.

@BethanyBlack I've got a hard rule that if Facebook shows me a comment from a friend on a post in a group I'm not a member of I will block the group. I've definitely blocked groups with interesting content as a result, and think about changing this rule sometimes. But for me it's easier to just have the rule and always follow it than to have to make a situational decision every time.

@BethanyBlack the worst thing about about watching The Godfather is then you wind up in situations that remind you of The Godfather and then you have to decide whether to say so aloud and run the risk of people thinking of you as being one of those people who always bring up The Godfather.

You should definitely watch it though.
