@scathach when i brought my init.el down to 9 lines (my own mode, my custom.el and some other guff) i felt like i 'won' emacs i guess. i played with vim a little bit since then, thats fun, i guess

@scathach its silly. i wanted to set up rust with completion and fancy stuff for types, and it sucked and didnt work right. that spurred me yanking a whole lot of shit out. i was using my mac more, vscode for work, emacs became irrelevant. I whittled down my install to almost no packages at all, just my own skeletons and bits of elisp, and shit for notetaking cuz i was still an org-mode andy. and then I started using the notes app on mac and that was that.

the stir fry i just made was so delicious. this first batch of gluten was very small, i guess it didnt autolyze long enough or i didnt knead it well enough. i need to grind this out so i can make a whole lot of it at the start of a week and eat it a bunch of different ways.

@7666 midi was invented in the 80s and musicians immediately took it up, especially where it was readily avalible: in japan. setups of big expensive finnicky synthesizers were usurped by smaller, lighter setups and could built by hobbyists. that hobby scene was extremely influential on video game music in particular afaik.

still, i have a fetish for old synthesizers and gear and techniques. and in my exploration ive found a DAW CAN give us what we want, but it takes a great deal of effort.
