@lizzy is that even legal? I would presume the existence of a reasonable law prohibiting the government from "blocking" public communications with any of its constituency.

@aral on Hacker News there was a post yesterday titled "ex Googler" by someone who got fired for no reason. Most of the comments were along the lines of "yeah this is how the industry works". I don't even know where to start. It is almost like they all hate each other, themselves and everyone else by normalizing anything to do with these companies.

The tech circles are incredibly pathetic and they need to be called out.

@selea for me, it's usually thinking about how the conversation is heading. If I feel like I'm going to be misunderstood, or there's a bit of miscommunication/bad faith going on, yeah I don't press that send button. Why start that useless chain of events?

It's an optimisation thingy. Helps to avoid a lot of wasted time, energy and upsetting interactions at times.

@alcinnz @dentangle @w3c lol @ the low income country non-profit fees. It being in EUR is the cherry on top of the out-of-touch-white people cherry.

I really want to like BSD, Redox and all the other kernels...but no copyleft means it's up for grabs. Linux is already suffering from the unfree drivers (possibly would've been avoided by switching to GPLv3, if it was feasible)

@aral you could upload the binaries to Codeberg, a few lines of code if you already have a CI/CD pipeline.

@aral it's literally written on the birth certificate of newborns in many Muslim-controlled countries. (And in Islam converting away from it is punishable by death.) Western people have no idea how messed up things are over here.

@aral it's even more absurd when a brown person talks about Islam (while being born in a Muslim country) and white people would flat out call you racist and ban you from the online spaces they control. "Islamophobia" is the word now used in the West to enact blasphemy laws there too. I guess even if one immigrated away from being oppressed, tortured, imprisoned and killed, the far reaching hands of religious propaganda will have a say in our lives... It surely fucking sucks.
