I took on a rush translation from somebody who is running a research at an University. I usually charge 50% upfront and he said "I can pay you know! - just invoice me" so I did, and I finished it before the end of the month like he asked and I still haven't received payment. Ugh. He asked me for additional work but I told him I won't be able to start it until I get paid for work I submitted 10 days ago! I know he is not the one paying but the accounting dept but still. #translation #freelance

How many BIPOC translators are getting published in comparison to white translators? How do pay rates differ? Which languages are underrepresented in translation and what's being done about that? How many translators are dealing with oppressive editing practices?

My son's girlfriend, who I love like my own daughter went to Paramore concert in Toronto the other night (with my son) and she got to sing on the stage. She's posting so many photos and videos on Insta story and other people captured it on TikTok and she is gushing and she is so adorable :heart_fire:

Finished watching Bling Empire S3 last night. When I first started watching last year I thought it was reenforcing Asian stereotypes - a la Crazy Rich Asians - but as I watched all 3 seasons I quite enjoyed it. Everyone is full of flaws (aren't we all) and I started cheering for some of them. Especially Kevin. Couple people drove me nuts tho ingl But I'm all for Asian Representation so bring on more Asian reality TV!

@YoWatShiinaEsq same. I didn't like kaki when I wasa child growing up in Japan - there were plenty around me and we ate almost every day so I got tired of it. Now that I'm in Canada, kaki is somewhat a delicacy and I love them now.
