Trying to decide if I have the bandwidth to write an article about how much literary #translators are sometimes exploited and mistreated in this industry. ? Too many dumpster fires.
Some places should not be allowed to publish translations lol

How are literary translators getting chosen and by whom? What percentage of translators are being pressured into (and by whom) into signing work-for-hire contracts? How many contracts actually include royalties? I have many questions ?
How many BIPOC translators are getting published in comparison to white translators? How do pay rates differ? Which languages are underrepresented in translation and what's being done about that? How many translators are dealing with oppressive editing practices?
I don't see enough articles or writing reporting on working conditions so I am kinda tempted to put on my journalist hat and write it myself if I have to
It may be too depressing though but we need a translator's version of #publishingpaidme but for overall conditions
