I hadn't been using my Platinum Curidas fountain pen a lot, because the trap door gets stuck and sometimes doesn't close. Someone just advised me to apply silicone grease on the trap door hinge with a toothpick. I'm trying to see how I can do it without glopping silicone grease all over. The idea is attractive to me because the Platinum EF nib I have in this pen is very nice.
Day 5 of #Inktubre2024 has the prompt Khaki/Botanical. I wrote something short about the late Philippine botanist Dr. Leonard Co. He was the foremost authority in ethnobotany in the Philippines during his lifetime. He curated a checklist called Co's Digital Flora, an online guide listing more than 10,000 plants indigenous to the Philippines. He was killed by the AFP while examining a tree in the forests of Leyte, in an alleged crossfire incident in 2010.
An auction I set up for Platinum Chou Kuro ink is red-hot! It's for the benefit of one of our Fountain Pen Network-Philippines members who had emergency surgery. Chou Kuro is currently not available from local retailers, and the donor is from overseas who is attending the Manila Pen Show this weekend. If we make the USD60 mark for the bottle we're good.
You can now buy tickets to the Manila Pen Show 2024 online. It's administered by HelixPay. You can pay via GCash, Grabpay, Maya, Visa and Mastercard, and more. There is a small convenience fee. There is a raffle ticket included in your day pass purchase. You will receive a QR code that you can screenshot or save as pdf. If you buy the two-day pass, you will get two QR codes.
@youronlyone I remember one of my PE classes in UP was Orienteering. We learned how to navigate using a compass and a map, and our final exam was a treasure hunt/obstacle course. It was fun. Using a compass and map should be a life skill.
