    “The current investigation by the BMJ centers on the most recently published guidelines for gender-affirming care by WPATH, their eighth revision. I would note at this juncture that it might be better to refer to guidelines as evidence-informed because our understanding of disease changes with time; it is not static, as the phrase evidence-based implies. The basis of the WPATH guidelines came from an independent systematic review done by faculty at Johns Hopkins. But as the BMJ article details, WPATH sent a letter to Johns Hopkins lead investigator, Karen Richards, PhD, indicating,

    “It is paramount that any publication based on the WPATH SOC8 data is thoroughly scrutinized and reviewed to ensure that publication does not negatively affect the provision of transgender healthcare in the broadest sense.”

    Moreover, the BMJ article alleges that Admiral Rachel Levine, MD, Assistant Secretary for Health, “asked authors to remove minimum age recommendations for gender-related hormones and surgeries.” While WPATH initially declined the request, further pressure by the AAP resulted in the WPATH removing the age restriction. The culture warriors can posit whatever intent they wish to those requests; I would be content saying it allows for clinical judgment, but irrespective of intent, it does reflect “the smoking thumb,” in this instance.

    The GRADE system is an accepted means of mapping the quality of a study [2] in making recommendations. That mapping has caveats that allow weak evidence to result in strong recommendations and strong evidence to result in weak recommendations. “

    @taylan I first read the evidence about mental health not improving from transing treatments in the book When Harry Became Sally, one that Amazon removed from the site for framing gender dysphoria as a mental illness. Author said in his defense "it does no such thing." I always suspected it was deleted and the DSM was not was actually because of the damning studies cited. I haven't seen that controversial bit of info in any other widely promoted GC book. It makes sense. Authors like scientists have been self censoring out of fear of the mob

    @quasi @lxo Yes, sex is clearly defined for everyone by gametes and chromosomes, it is not constructed. A person with Downs Syndrome isn’t a new species. Linguistic sleight of hand and subjectivity doesn’t change objective reality. We are all well informed here and we know where your activist nonscience came from and the transhumanist agenda that funds it. Intersex/DSD people don’t want to be lumped in with gender people and used for their sociopolitical ends to queer biology. Biology exists, is observable, and not subject to brainwashing and No Debating into five sexes. There is not a third gamete, everyone exists because a male and female fucked. We aren’t clownfish and although exposure to hormones in wastewater is doing weird shit to freshwater fish reproduction, all it’s doing to humans is causing sterility, anorgasmia and organ failure.

    It’s too many categories that not enough people will fill and everything requires sponsorship. It would degrade the integrity of sports to spread it around so everyone can feel like an athlete. School sports in general is already suffering lack of funding. A genderpeopled sports league would be interesting but there is no straightforward definition of trans that doesn’t depend on sex role stereotypes, so a guy who said he felt like a woman last night when he beat off to sissy porn could barge in and crush the estrogen-impaired TIMs. Weight fluctuates so it would be odd to have Obese Youth Judo not to mention it would encourage obesity, as allowing trans ID males in women’s sports encourages substandard male including CAIS athletes to self ID as women Sports is not for everyone and that’s okay!
