@youronlyone@asiandrama@kdrama@tv@youronlyone That is why I don't even like the jury system. There are so many examples where criminals got away by manipulating the emotions and politics of the jury. Thankfully India got rid of that system in favor of bench trials around the 60s. Now, we are facing a new challenge in which the fascist party has infiltrated the legal system and judges are forced to make verdicts in favor of them. Need to see how we can ensure neutrality in bench trials under this circumstance.
@youronlyone@youronlyone@kdrama@asiandrama@tv I can't even think of such a situation. Gives me chills. In India, Hindu majority is already bending the system to target Muslims and other minorities. If public voting will decide a trial they will just vote fot every minority accused to be hanged. It will only empower the majority.
@rakyat@liztai This is something what we read everyday in good news platforms in India(which are unfortunately few) but will come as a shocker to many in the west.
@inthehands@dalias When I was new I was not even aware of any one I knew or even from my country of a billion had an account here. Federated timeline helped me discover people. Those days people didn't make lists or suggestions like today. So perhaps it is less significant now. Anyway, hope the police will be merciful to first offenders and we won't have to kill that feature.
