Centrists want a little bit of oppression and state violence, as a treat.

Just enough to keep those unruly minorities and queers in line... To keep you feeling safe and to allow you to feel like your kids won't be groomed by cross-dressing weirdos or threatened by brown people on the way to the bus stop.

But not so much oppression that unseemly *visible* violence happens in front of you. There are people to take care of these things out of view, where you don't have to see such things.

This is about the patriarchal belief that female and male are immutable halves of humanity who belong in a very specific social structure and that anything that violates that structure is a threat to society as a whole.

THAT is what this is about, in its deepest roots.

The bottom line:

The issue of trans girls and women in sports is not really about safety or fairness. It's actually about cis people's prejudice surrounding sexist gender stereotypes and trans girls and women.

It's about an intractable belief that "men and women are just different," existing as two almost separate species that are forever separated by specific bodies of behaviors and potentialities.

When I think of the bizarrely convoluted and uncomfortable things so many ostensibly heterosexual men put themselves through just to avoid the perception of being gay, it seems that it might be easier to throw in the towel on the whole enterprise, and just have sex with men anyway, because it involves so much effort and inconvenience to avoid accusations of being gay.

Just get it over with. Your life will be so much more relaxed afterward.
