   Centrists want a little bit of oppression and state violence, as a treat.

   Just enough to keep those unruly minorities and queers in line... To keep you feeling safe and to allow you to feel like your kids won't be groomed by cross-dressing weirdos or threatened by brown people on the way to the bus stop.

   But not so much oppression that unseemly *visible* violence happens in front of you. There are people to take care of these things out of view, where you don't have to see such things.

     To a centrist, fascism is acceptable if it's not overt fascism. They want deniable plausibility. They want clean, sterile state violence.

     The gay neighbors with two kids who attend their church are fine. As long as they don't overtly break too many rules around white gender conformity and cause a PROBLEM in your circles.
