El Shaddai Ascension to Metatron is 13 years old but doesn't really show its age, lookin as gorgeous as a title from last year. Now, gameplay might be nothing more than press X to attack a gazillion times, but few titles came close to looking this weird and beautiful. Maybe the original NieR.
@HauntedOwlbear I still like to mention Friday the 13th that, despite being a quite awful game, still had so many interesting mechanics for an adventure title for home computers in 1985 (sanity meter, the first jumpscare in gaming etc)
On Patreon I published a history of Capstone, the infamous 90s developer who developed such games as TekWar and Witchhaven. Why were those games "not good"? The developers told me a story of rushed dev times and a toxic environment. I'd love some support in those tough times. Thanks. https://www.patreon.com/thegenesistemple
@retrohistories Eric Chahi's Le Pacte is a good one, it was his adventure game right before Another World. Despite the author's notoriety, that game remains in French only and only released on CPC. So... yeah. But I did play it on Twitch recently and it was pretty interesting.
Armed & Delirious (aka Dementia) is also a pretty good example in that it is a ... uh unique adventure game but it would be almost impossible to re-release it today.
Alright, I tallied up the votes with the OTHER SITE and guess I'll be playing Phantasmagoria starting from tomorrow night at 9.30 PM and through the week. Ready to take my hand and travel through a true 1995 b-movie experience? See you on https://www.twitch.tv/thegenesistemple
@HauntedOwlbear but speaking of shirts, I was pretty amused by the fact I went to the gym a couple of days ago wearing a Machine Head "The Blackening" shirt while (randomly really) listening to the Blackening. It was like: - what you listening to? - *POINTS AT SHIRT*
Why should you waste your time playing any of the Fallout games, when you can instead go for the original post-apocalyptic wasteland experience in Visions of Aftermath - The Boomtown from 1988. A full-on simulation of living in a post apocalyptic world. Unfortunately, the released version has an irritating glitch, so it is necessary to make frequent backups of your world. The original version also came in with a full-on survival manual instructing you on what to do in case of real life fallout.
Love arguing with Daggerfall NPCs that first don't like my polite tone, then accuses me of being rude, and then clearly doesn't want to answer my question anyway. Feels like arguing on the bird site.
As soon as I heard about the complicated and quite strange story of Cookie's Bustle, I knew I had to write something on it. Thanks to the help of @misty, Patbytes and Sebmal I was able to get together a short history of what is going on and some little new information that might be interesting. https://www.timeextension.com/features/the-quest-to-save-cookies-bustle-from-obscurity
I never liked the idea of articles going to die on defunct magazines that no one can buy anymore. So I'm starting to take back older articles, rewriting them and posting them on Patreon, the first one is a look at the making of the Donkey Kong Country soundtrack by David Wise. Any support is more than welcome (especially in these dark times). https://www.patreon.com/posts/bonus-article-100649387
Wonder if @llamasoft_ox has ever seen these "beautiful" Italian pirate loader art pieces made for his games? Indeed, many of Llamasoft's titles were pirated, as usual for the time, in Italy, but only three of them received loader art. Care to guess which is which? One is obvious, the others... well not so much.
The time has come for The Genesis Temple to come to video and where else could I begin my travel if not with this strange story of one of the craziest home computer conversions ever, a sexy Hunchback and a masochistic meta-narrative? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT8lGQecmHY
Well, tomorrow is that time of the year. And I have nothing else to do, so you are forced to come to my birthday party and be nice to me (nah you can insult me, no worries I'm a big boy I can take it). I promise bad games, gaming history, horrifying memories and wine. Bring gifts. https://www.twitch.tv/thegenesistemple
