Thanks to the work of @Laserschwert we now have Loom 's manual, book of patterns, and hint books restored and uploaded on Archive. They were originally meant for the Loom LRG re-release but that did not pan out. https://archive.org/details/loom-manual-bop-hintbook/
Omar Cornut managed to preserve the rare Sega AI Computer, an obscure offering from the Japanese company which promised natural language processing via its Prolog interpreter. Everything from the computer is now available here: https://www.smspower.org/SegaAI/Index
Not sure we needed an Among Us / Vampire Survivors crossover, but then again if the product is another quality DLC with lots of content for a couple of bucks, well, no complaints here. My review of the Emergency Meeting DLC https://voxelsmash.com/vampire-survivors-emergency-meeting-review/
So, let's see if I understand this. This guy is selling reproduction copies of pirated compilations of Commodore 64 games, originally sold in Italy in the 80s. So basically, he's selling pirated copies of pirated copies... This is one for fans of recursive loops, for sure.
For some reason, it bugs me to no end that the ending to Rocky on Master System names you "the world champion" after beating Drago. But Rocky actually went against the boxing commission to go fight in Russia and lost his license to do the fight, so it was actually the exact opposite. If you can't trust a 8-bit game to stick to the movie's plot, who can you really trust?
Want a Vampire Survivors more customizable and serious? Don't miss out on Halls of Torment. For a few bucks, you get a sweet Luciferian action RPG (or one completely automatic), quest-based gameplay and some retro late 90s graphics for once. Guaranteed better deal than Diablo IV. Already bought 3 copies for friends. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2218750/Halls_of_Torment/
What was the first movie in history to feature an actual (not a mock-up) porn game? I am pretty sure it was Too Beautiful to Die, an Italian thriller from 1988. The German title Sex Games (from 85) on C64 is seen in quite a long scene. The Commodore is clearly not connected in the first scene, seems to be on in the close-up.
@HauntedOwlbear I am 100% sure that if you asked someone in Rome, even someone who spoke perfect English (there might be a few around) about "where is Smart Door" they would look at you pretty funnily.
Going to the official Rome's metro website and selecting the English version (it should so automatically), nets you a sweet translation of all the Roman stations. It's a gift that keeps on giving. "Hey man I live at Stoned".
Today KeeperFX 1.0 was released, marking the completion of the entire original Dungeon Keeper code being rewritten plus a bunch of fixes, improvements and new units. https://keeperfx.net/
Whether in purple, pink, red or 3D, Capstone games have touched all of our lives in different, significant and terrible ways. Tonight I'm on Twitch at 9PM CET to celebrate (?) their history, talk about my research/interviews with the devs and play a selection of their games. Yay? https://www.twitch.tv/thegenesistemple
Two years ago I was wondering if I would ever be able to write a history of Capstone software - famous creators of TekWar and Witchhaven (and Zorro *ARGH*). One year later, look at that. In 2022 I actually managed to publish it over on Retro Gamer magazine.
