yes I did order 3 small snails for the indoors water pot. big crosswords: I end up doing this also. it's right at the right level to be a bit challenging for me but I can still finish without hints or reveals.

flipart: boring. the optimum strategy is too easy to find out.

btw one small correction in my kabuki studies: it's not that the original onna-kabuki was necessarily all-women theatre troupes until the government made women illegal. they had boy actors, too.

it's just that the boys did the femme roles, and the manly heroes were played by women. thus Izumo-no-Okuni always represented as crossdressing.

though modern kabuki is conservative and respectable, it seems undeniable that the original kabuki was erotic, if not bawdy burlesque. so despite the modern spelling, the word is thought to have derived from kabuku "to bend the head, as in a loaded ear of grain; to behave in an extravagant, eccentric manner; to be weird and unusual". in other words, kabuki theatre was, very literally and in every possible sense of the word, the queer theatre.

like many adventures from the 80s the endgame is basically impossible to guess without a walkthrough. the story is minimal and I wish we got to see more personality from Tracker McDyke. I love Tessy LaFemme, the second trans femme in videogames ever by my reckoning, though we have to play to the end to see her. the author was worried about the edgy humour not ageing well but it's really quite minimally problematic (at some point you can use your binoculars to peep on a random woman undressing in her apartment, and she reacts teasingly; I think that's it, really).

it's cool of archive.org to host it but it's kind of impressive (negatively) that they directly quote C.M. Ralph saying they're tired of being called "she" and make it very clear that their pronouns are they/them, and then the archive.org blurb immediately misgenders them directly below >.>
