@elilla have you tried stockings and layering skirts? Or is it not an option?

on the front of "how to survive winter with plant-based clothing", I've made a happy accidental discovery the other day: layering long skirts over pants is weirdly warm, even if the pieces involved are the kind of thin breezy linen meant for summer. like thick padded linen for winter would be amazingly functional but it's also super expensive, when you find cheap pieces in the aftermarket it's always thin, linen has sadly become associated with summer in Western Europe.
but it's better than cotton also for winter because of not staying wet forever (which is bad both for inner wear due to sweat, and when a winter rain drizzles you icily). and now I found out that thanks to this air cushion (?) effect, even a couple summer pieces is warm enough to endure autumn at least—fully elasthane- and polyester-free.
I'll admit loose pants under a skirt isn't the best of looks but given ecological and functional properties, I'm trying to grow used to it or make it into a thing:
