@alex @feld DUDE I KNOW. What the fuck is wrong with the Ruby & Rails docs? guides.rubyonrails.org is OK. But if you want to start slingin' some slick Ruby code, and if you'd docs to show you how to call certain methods... Good luck. It's a nightmare. And yet there's all these Ruby nerds out there who talk about metaprogramming and stuff like they know some great secret and are just keeping it to themselves.

@JedDrudge @Humpleupagus @Cornelius @DixonUranus Usually because one person springs it on the other person, and the blindsiding is extremely cruel and tears the victim's life apart without much warning. The divorcing spouse holds little grudges and bitchy complaints inside themselves, selfishly & cowardly refusing to admit their unhappiness and seek resolution. Then the separation initiates, and the victim receives a sudden, somewhat undeserved, permanent deep emotional wound. That stirs guilt in the divorcing spouse's soul. So, the justification they tell themselves is that the other spouse really is a bad person, that they were right, and other comforting lies. Each lie embitters them, hardens them to the other person. Nastiness multiplies. And so forth. People destroy themselves, that's why they're nasty. They are cowards who destroy themselves... They are nasty because they refuse to kill themselves to pay for their dishonor, basically.

@JedDrudge @Humpleupagus @Cornelius @DixonUranus Well, both people need to be getting something really great out of the relationship. If both are very satisfied, the marriage will be fine. The wife has to provide the bedroom activities and the child rearing and the faithfulness and dutifulness. The husband has to provide the house, some emotianal support but mostly emotional stability, and he has to be virile and have an in-charge personality without being a brute. If you have a woman like that and a man like that, the relationship can flourish long into the future without degrading into cynicism as you have supposed. But really the fundamental mechanic of love-renewal is the bravery to face one's reality and to renew oneself, which in turn inspires the other to do the same. Then you stay forever young, forever lustful and passionate, and forever open to the criticisms and dissatisfactions your partner may raise.

@alex What's going on here? It's not clear to me why you must catch & re-throw the error.

@dew_the_dew @Darb @Bloomfer @errante @bot @alex oh great I didn't even know this was a thread, I thought this was a standalone post. that shit where it doesn't show that a post is from a thread on a instance which has defederated poast is annoying.

@dew_the_dew @Darb @Bloomfer @errante @bot If it's a web app, it has little ability to spy - maybe. If it's an app which you download & run as an executable, I think it can spy on you quite easily. The best way is to not download and run apps. For example, a big business model in app development is to package tracking software into benign apps, like a Weather app would make money by packaging a Wi-Fi signal monitoring app which always runs in the background. To reiterate the best way to not get spied on is to not download and run standalone apps on either your phone or PC. But I'm curious what @alex knows about this.

@silverpill what's the story with browser wallet for monero? if it's so critical to monero adoption, why haven't the devs been working on it?

@alex And even if they feel something's up (they must have an inner voice?), they are too cowardly to consider what life could be beyond that cushy job.

I think the tech layoffs suck. Shit rolls downhill. But if you were in Silicon Valley (or any tech hub) and you did not instincively feel the bubble, then you're just not an intuitive person. I could feel it the moment I got my first TECH job. Bunch of fucking BOZOs in those nice office buildings. Weak faggots you could kill with one solid punch to the head. I would never, but it is to say that they are not MEN OF SUBSTANCE. They lack that killer instinct - or any instinct, for that matter.

I love coffee, heavy metal, producing artistic and technical works, and daydreaming. I write code, I read literature, I make music from time to time, and I like Mel Gibson movies. I believe in my redemption, our cultural revival, and your ability to go beyond what you're capable of right now. I hate Discord, the dominance of liberal ideas, people that fall from grace of their own mistakes but remain arrogant, and talentless webcomic artists.
