Being humble, respectful and honest do be going a long way, but also not taking yourself to seriously is crucial

You gotta be real if you want to be respected, and I'm a damn mess, but it somehow works, maybe because of the brutal honesty, but I don't care

@MrLee i doubt that. imho the only way to get the momentum on our side, would have been for media outlets and publishers to foster their own communities instead of whining that some silicon valley boys enrich themselves on the cost of their content.

@Natanox We will not be implementing BlueSky support into Pixelfed based on the consensus.

I want you to know that your comment in that GH issue was a deciding factor in my decision, and hope you know you made an impact regarding this issue.

I listen to our community, and want to thank you for the insight and feedback you provided.

The real danger of the fediverse isn't protocols or platforms, its developers losing touch with the people that should matter the most.

You should checkout @vidzy, an exciting federated TikTok alternative with a webUI and federation support.

I hear they are beta testing their app too, which is pretty exciting.

I've been in touch with them, and look forward to working together on AP compatibility.

@chebra The fact that people have real viable alternatives is something to celebrate.

In 2016 there were no viable alternatives to Twitter.

Despite what you think about BlueSky, can we just celebrate the exodus from X/Twitter?

Society has woken up from it's walled garden induced slumber.

The fact that Facebook has implemented ActivityPub would have been unfathomable just a few years ago.

We're not only on the winning side, but we did so independently and to such a successful degree that the biggest social media company came to us.

Don't forget that.

They came to us.

We are the future.

I'm reaching out to a few #fediverse projects regarding the ActivityPub Starter Kit service

The goal is to support all fediverse projects, but it will take time to add support for each API structure

Notice how they aren't called Pixelfed Starter Kits?

That's because this is bigger than Pixelfed, and my ego

And while I could have limited this to just Pixelfed, that would go against everything I believe in

I'm building for the future, the federated future

One free from ego driven overlords 🚀

I never considered how people may want to search and explore Starter Kits, so I am working on that now, and hope to collaborate with:

@strypey I reached out to the fedi.directory maintainer, but they don't seem too impressed.

I was hoping to collaborate and share Starter Kits from Trunk, fedi.directory and other sources too, that would be ideal IMO

The last thing I want, is for Starter Kits to be used for abusive or malicious purposes.

That is why we are employing a suite of safety features on day 1.

We will be using the `indexable` AP extension to check if the account approves public indexing, and if not, they will not be able to be added to a kit.

If they do allow indexing, we will allow them to be included in your kit, but will send them a DM notifying them and will honor self-removal requests with a simple DM reply.
