So, friends, as the focus rightfully shifts to #Milton, I went to work yesterday here in #Asheville, and my town will never be the same again.

Asheville runs on #tourism. It is our lifeblood. We have very little other industry here and now it is gone.

It's not a simple case of rebuild/restart. It's an industry in collapse.

I just received, in my account, $750 for assistance from #FEMA.

I received the base amount.

If you're in the #disaster area, apply for this. Get your bank account info and put aside 30 or 45 minutes for $750. Took about 2 days.

The secondary, which eventually becomes the primary problem with no water is sanitation and you can't flush the toilet.

I can smell ants. Specifically I can smell a large ant colony. I lived in East Texas for a while and fire ants are a huge problem. I actually found I can smell the fermic acid I believe. Whatever it is I can smell them.

Oooh that totally makes sense. Reminds me that when I built a cabin a while back it was recommended to put borax around it which is a fine powder as well and supposedly does respiratory damage or something

Altruistic Capitalism seems to be an oxymoron.. but I suppose that's the point. That it can't exist. That we are in fact doomed and destined to deal with the greed of humanity... Which is another unfortunate but realistic view.

Once a year in summer here in Asheville there is a topless women's protest. Which seems cool.. until you find out it's mostly old hippies..🤪

Strangely enough tho.. after about 15 minutes it becomes no big deal..
