@skinnylatte haven't lived there since 1991 but I remember there was a specific government dating agency limited to citizen college grads, the SDU, which I found weird and creepy. I loved Singapore in a lot of ways but...yeah. This tracks.
I cannot imagine being such a jackass that you are trying to police what food people buy with fucking food stamps. These are destitute people and they deserve some fucking comfort and if that means popsicles as a treat then that's what it means. Go fuck yourselves, weird scolds.
I have lived in (admittedly pre-ACA) America and now I live in Canada and there is 100000000000% no doubt in my mind as to whose medical system, warty as it occasionally is, is better. Zero. Zeeeeeeeeeero.
Met a delightful newish faculty member with the same last name as me and when I asked her where she was from she said "near Cleveland" and then said "Youngstown" and I was like "man Youngstown isn't near Cleveland".
@mathowie christ man this shit became legal in Ontario in like... 2020 or something only and it is *fucking inescapable* and it's just .... god, it's depressing. Seeing Wayne Fucking Gretzky hock this shit what in the hell
Outside of extremely narrow parameters, there is literally no point where a mechanical watch is superior to a quartz. The appeal of mechanical is nostalgia/expense and completely unrelated to any functionality whatsoever. Quartz watches are cheaper, more reliable, more accurate, and do more stuff than mechanicals. I own both types and love both types but I am completely under no illusion that mechanicals are inherently superior or anything.
I watched a new-to-me watch YouTube guy and he spent an inordinate amount of time shitting on quartz watches, so that is the last time I will watch that particular watch YouTube guy.
@MattTheQuick yup, you can tell as the U says "Light" and the non-U says "E.L. Light". That's the only difference on the case. The U is better anyway. :D you digging it so far?
@jmorris whoa. I lived in Singapore in the mid 1980s and Sim Lim Tower was there and had a lot of shops that sold this exact type of stuff. It's nice to see that some things don't change.
