The grimly predictable apologism has kicked off as well, of course, all the while police forces around the world increase patrols to deal with the inevitable outpouring of anti-Semitism.
@lxo yeah you're right, sorry, I was missing the context previously that existing breaks were present.
It's frustrating but I do agree given that that was the case, the most sensible thing is to rip the bandage off and get it done (along side the whole std::string thing).
It is precisely that use case that's the issue I'm encountering. Recompiling resolves it, but in this instance isn't possible.
@lxo so they replaced "incompatible .so files based arbitrarily on which compiler you use" with "incompatible .so files based arbitrarily on which compiler you use"?
That was not what the 'chill out' was in reference to...
It's the default super-defensive talking down that I'm referring to.
I've gone to pains to point out that I'm NOT attacking nor criticising asahi here.
If something is hard to know ('follow IRC conversations'...), you are clearly busy with other priorities ('have my hands full'), then there's no need to talk down to me as if I should have known that this would be dealt with sooner.
It's quite reasonable to assume, as I did, that maybe this won't get done soon.
But great, glad to stand corrected.
Also I would suggest 'follow IRC conversations' indicates you guys should, probably, just advice, don't bite my head off, probably find a way of documenting things better.
Much harder to face the difficult, nuanced, contradictory and often infuriating realities of situations.
For instance it's easy to say 'hey nobody needs a car!' while ignoring the dire state of public transport, people who live remotely, the many many cases where public transport does't practically work and the fact it costs literally double to go by unreliable, strike ridden train.
It's just perpetually annoying to watch this play out over and over again.
I remember CND doing this and doing great harm to nuclear power, the one thing that could have saved us from climate change (yes a bug bear), I remember the anti animal-testing people, I mean even the antivaxxers are doing their own version of this.
The real world isn't simple, sorry. Making stupid statements and feeling warm + fuzzy is not helping anything real. Grow up.
@vbabka@killyourfm I may have misremembered what Vlasta said, but he definitely did say 'drink only pilsner urquell the rest are a national embarrassment', that I am sure of
@killyourfm no sorry @vbabka informs me that starbucks is the only decent coffee in Czechia. He said the rest were a 'national embarrassment' or something I think
