If you’re FSU, imagine the luck in getting not just a week 0 game but a Labor Day game when there’s nothing else in CFB to watch to maximize your audience against two unranked conference opponents (while you are suing to leave your conference). What could go wrong??

@thomasfuchs I was familiar with the original, but kudos for explaining references in alt text. So many times a movie still or reference to something gets posted by someone that I can't ID, and I wish the alt text *did*.

@thomasfuchs So to that end, is this an appropriate job for AI (where it's going to be uninspired, basically an automation that is trying to make decisions of its own)? I think so, especially if I can live with 💩 results and isn't taking the place of what could otherwise be good video.

But in the same vein, I've learned a lot from doing videos even though it's not a part of my job or any other hobbies directly. And I'd be deprived of that if AI just did all mine…

@thomasfuchs This one stuck out to me; I find generative AI bad overall, but:

I have had fun putting videos together in the past. I have had times where I wanted a video to exist and had zero desire to do anything in making it and it was just labor for me. There's no one around me to do them for me when I have reason to need them, and *sometimes* they're a fun creative endeavor for me, but tend not to be.

@NanoRaptor I don’t think an employer is entitled to one’s best, most driven work – but it is the responsibility of teachers to draw that work out. A teacher doesn’t gain more profit from a student showing exceptional work – they get to then help the student refine that kind of work rather than work at the level of checking boxes.

@thomasfuchs This is wild, and these guys are awful. The one redeeming factor Is they have no idea how bad their ideas are:

@thomasfuchs I understand having a strong preference for free software, but I think too many people who are dogmatic about it fail to understand how people work differently than them, or how entire *fields* operate.
