Just a note saying how my #Fediverse experience has been made immeasurably richer for being able to take in and engage with carefully curated #Threads users, #BlueSky bridged users, #WordPress ActivityPub enabled blogs, Federated #Podcast episodes, #PixelFed photos, and Peertube videos. All from one Mastodon account. This works.

And I'm grateful for the moderation tools to mute, block and curate all of this, and the Mastodon lists to make them all digestable and not just info overload.

@jarjoura I get that: This requires as careful hand done curation as does any other Fediverse following choices.
So it does have that complexity for sure.
And true that ActivityPub needs robust comment control, which is in the works.
Threads is better that the Fediverse at that today, and that needs to change fast.

But even with those caveats it is overall much richer than what those silos offer TODAY and I hope, even more so as this evolves.

@tchambers this does come at the expense of complexity though. Twitter allowed unchecked bullying to run rampant in the 2010s, and our news media was filtered through that lens. Not looking forward to a return to that. 😵💫

ActivityPub still doesn’t solve the problem of allowing anyone to comment, thereby, bully others. However, I do appreciate that your community server can help gate access to it at the extremes.

@lutindiscret They still see (albeit in aggregate) follows and likes from the larger fediverse.

@tchambers how have you "engaged" with threads users? Isn't federation only one-way (from there to fediverse?) 🤔

@tchambers Is “Bridgy Fed” what everyone is using for BlueSky?
