I say take it a step further, go beyond thinking real hard, and start spending time with those people. Start bringing them into your process. You’ll get so much better at software that helps people.

@inthehands ah, very interesting… so it’s internal vs external? So inside- be outside-oriented… or captive vs non-captive user base?

@inthehands “buyer-centered” might be better than “org-centered”? Not sure. It’s a tough one to label.

@thomasfuchs Agreed, and I thought that messaging was super clear. They were kind of casting about for the scenarios where that really makes sense, and I thought the stuff where it was like, “you’re doing work in your computer, but you’re also making breakfast for your kids” was the weakest and most unsettling.

Sitting on a cramped airplane and being able to block out your surroundings and use a giant screen that doesn’t take up any physical space? Yes please.

@RuthMalan This makes me think a lot about the mixed feelings I’ve had about “architecture” as the label for this. Continually evolving, dynamic, living systems maybe need more gardening than architecture? And also what’s a good metaphor when the gardener is part of the garden? But maybe it’s just as important to reframe/expand our definition of architecture? I haven’t landed on an answer, but these are the things I ponder.
