Architects are system designers — not the only designers of the system, of course! Still, systems and their contexts are continually evolving, and it takes attention to understand the system — across all the boundaries and areas of focus of teams, as well as impacts of and on the system — as use and operational contexts evolve, to foster requisite cohesion and system integrity *over time* as things change...

Talk’o’belle (rvr@mstdn.plus)'s status on Thursday, 25-May-2023 01:56:23 JST Talk’o’belle @RuthMalan This makes me think a lot about the mixed feelings I’ve had about “architecture” as the label for this. Continually evolving, dynamic, living systems maybe need more gardening than architecture? And also what’s a good metaphor when the gardener is part of the garden? But maybe it’s just as important to reframe/expand our definition of architecture? I haven’t landed on an answer, but these are the things I ponder.
