@stux @pluralistic thanks to @kde my text editor's save function used to work directly over FTP, for the absolute minimum possible testing 😁
@AngelaScholder @pluralistic chances are a lot of them don't use Facebook any more either but never thought about it. Those who do will never be shown your message until 3 days after you leave, judging by when it has shown me time-sensitive messages for the last couple of years
@ianb @pluralistic I bought The Internet Con from my local chain bookstore (Waterstones), and the guy at the checkout enthusiastically said "I love Cory Doctorow's books. I always make sure we get them in."
@ryanc I voted for "Google says 🖕" then immediately remembered that Google never says anything to their users
@stux @chris It's largely the difference as I understand it between social liberalism and economic liberalism.
Economic liberalism is generally the idea that nobody should be limited by the government, and therefore the rich can do whatever they like.
Social liberalism is the idea that everyone should have a good level of freedom, and sometimes the government might need to step in to lift some people up or stop others getting too powerful.
@pluralistic I have a filter set to block anything with "Long Thread/" in it from my feeds but not when viewing the actual post. That way I can see the start of the thread and choose to read it (usually on your website), and I also see your boosts and other stuff. Win/win
@pfefferle How long does it normally take before a site is accessible over ActivityPub? I've just set up a new Wordpress install on a new domain with the ActivityPub plugin, and when I search on here I get "503 Remote SSL certificate could not be verified". SSL appears to work fine in Firefox. Hoping it works in a couple of days
