So far, my decision to upgrade to 4.3.0 was a poor one. My server is down and nobody is around to help. I'm not a user of ruby. Don't use postgresql - I use mariadb mostly. That server is a LTS version of Linux Mint. Is its version too low to support 4.3.0? How do I upgrade to postgresql-16? Why did the documentation say postgresql-12, which I have? How do I fix the react errors? What does it mean that X got an unexpected version (but doesn't tell what it wants)?

Nope. Still can't serve. It's now stubbornly serving a completely different site if I use "try_files $uri @PROXY." If I use "try_files $uri /$uri =404;", it gripes b/c there is no index file & it won't do a directory listing. Automatic installation script skipped files. This is non-trivial. Having to search for solutions all day was awful. You want us to host, but online help is poor.

My mastodon server is up & running.

I've taken down the docker images. I'll see if I can run that code natively. I hook to it to generate tokens for a jitsi-meet server.

Now to do all of that migration stuff I've heard tell about. In the meantime, I'm still here on mastodon.social.

When I'm finished, mine will have a nice URL. It's using a clumsy-looking one that works on this server b/c SSL is picky.

The final problem wasn't #mastodon or (at least tangentially) #nginx. It was #docker.

@atomicpoet I used to like one that aggregated searches of multiple engines. I use duckduckgo mostly these days.

Searches are expensive for sites b/c database searches are resource hogs. YouTube charges partner apps/sites a lot for searching beyond a trivial number. Hard 2 run a site where users create playlists if you can't search.

I'd like to see more players and any better methods of retrieval the clever among us can come up with.
