As to splitting up a long-form post, it kind of felt like a flood on my timeline... although it is also possibly nice to be able to reply to specific portions. So... mixed feelings!
Ever since monitoring the #CO2 levels in my office, I noticed that I need more ventilation.
But it is cold outside... while I have been using a couple #DIY heat recovery units, they are a bit loud and consume a bit of (mostly #solar) electricity, and are still a bit lossy...
So I finally decided to search for how many #plants I would need to help keep the CO2 levels down..
We've almost made it around the Sun once more without falling off, which is an achievement of some sort. Thank you to everyone for not jumping about too much. If you'd like to put your tray tables in the upright position we'll begin our descent into fascism now.
For those of you about to celebrate, have fun with that. I'm not religious myself, but if anyone who is would like to tell their god we've had Quite Enough Now Thanks, that would be great.
I also have grid power if needed, but try to avoid it for my office use.
Running a small system really gets you aware of your power usage ... the difference between a laptop that runs around 5-10 watts vs. 5-45 watts becomes significant!
"I speak the language of technology—and if you're reading this, there's a high chance you do too. We're living bridges of domains mysterious and unknown to many, domains that make and will continue to make a difference in the scale of oppression and horrors being spread and perpetuated into the world. What you do with that capacity and that knowledge can mean the difference between life and death. Use it to empower others."
Recently fixed an issue with my #PinePhone where the usb-c charging port would get instantly hot to the touch... by replacing the usb-c board, available from the #Pine64 shop!
It was by no means as easy as working with #MNTReform or #FrameworkLaptop systems that are designed for repairability in mind, requiring some uncomfortable prying, but do-able.
As a bonus prize, it appears the kernel packages in #Mobian for the pinephone are getting better support lately, yay!
With the onset of cooler weather, and being unable to keep our large door open... introducing the newest addition to my #Aikido#Dojo community, a #DIY#CorsiRosenthalBox !
Very much like the "guix build --dependents" feature!
It was sometimes kind of a painful to do "guix build $(guix refresh --list-dependents | sed ... | awk ... | cut ... | etc.)" to massage the output into something guix build could actually ingest.
Although I do wonder if "guix refresh" could still get a machine readable output format, e.g. one line per package, options for the recursive dependents rather than just the minimum set that would trigger all the builds, etc.
@josch the two little buttons in the middle of the spacebar were something I learned to live with; I think I remapped them to pageup and pagedown, but honestly, I vastly prefer the newer more traditional layout as something I do not probably need to customize much, if at all.
The strange thing to me was the choice to use a 1.5x key for the right arrow, left alt, and circle keys. All would benefit from leaving a small gap at the edge of the row to navigate to the corners by feel. The alt key being the same size as the two keys around it also make it harder to sense by feel.
I sometimes struggle to hit the backspace or enter keys correctly, but probably will adapt over time.
I could do without the delete key or the function keys...
Involved in various #FOSS projects such as #ReproducibleBuilds #Debian #Guix and so much more. Passionate about #Aikido and #Solar hobbyist.I prefer not to be referred to with pronouns, but they/them/theirs is ok if you must.
