I've noticed that criticisms of machine learning (ML) ignore that the root problem is capitalism.

If we lived in a world with infinite resources and no-one needed to work to validate their existence, then there would be no problem with generative AI.

Of course we live in a world with finite resources, and ML is branded as invalidating the existence of many people, especially creatives, while burning loads of energy and semiconductors.

Still, better to explicitly mention the problem.

@TomF @aeva Heh yeah. I had a friend in high school. His dad was a body builder and in the military, and he'd constantly get negative feedback about his BMI.

It's like, look at him. Straight-up just look at him. He could bench press you. What are you even measuring?

@eniko And the opposite is also true. "Am I allowed to" (ex: fair use discussions) doesn't mean that they won't try to sue you anyway and hope you'll settle out of court.
