@HistoPol Starting a war by detaining ships on the sea is not a good idea at the moment with the electorate of most Western countries unwilling to commit to it.
@NeonPurpleStar@andrewdessler I'm not, I hope. I just want to get some info out at this point in the election that I feel is important in regard to getting and protecting climate actions.
@NeonPurpleStar More on how widely blocked my account has gotten.
I run into this more than once per day while on Mastodon.
I see replies on posts, but when I open them nothing shows up. This is because the account(s) that replied have blocked mine.
Related to you query @andrewdessler doesn't this def. work?
CIDs are physical climate system conditions (e.g., means, events, extremes) that affect an element of society or ecosystems and are thus a priority for climate information provision.
@NeonPurpleStar I'm pretty sure that more than 500 people have blocked me, but you are probably right there may be accounts that have been rejected by more people than has mine.
@NeonPurpleStar During the first half of the Biden administration, most climate activists on Mastodon that migrated here got angry at me for defending Joe Biden's climate actions related to the broader issue of maintaining enough political capital to govern the USA and keep Republicans from getting more power.
Then, post-October 7th things got worse as I defended Joe Biden from Iran's political technology campaign to weaken him and Democrats even worse.
I have a favor to ask. Since I'm probably the account that has been blocked by the most people on the Fediverse I'm wondering if you could screenshot the post above and share it that way so that it might get out to more climate advocates that way.
Anyways, the fossil fuel industry would not be spending so much trying to get Democrats out of power unless they are scared of the #ClimateAction they'll accomplish.
@anneapplebaum2000 The West has way more resources than Moscow has access to. Putin's days are numbered. He won't last long past November unless the U.S. elections go his way.
@tuckfrump@anneapplebaum2000 Both @MAKS23 and @noelreports post the Russian daily losses that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense publishes. Hard to say how accurate, nothing is in wartime, but they align well with many other war monitors.
This week it looks like Moscow's army might have lost over 2,000 soldiers in one day. I think that they are able to recruit about 500 soldiers per day if that and every soldier is someone that cannot work in a weapons factory.
Russians recently poisoned the river Seym as it flows into #Ukraine
Everything in it has died over a 650km stretch and this river empties into another, which then feeds into a major reservoir used for drinking water. The river can no longer be used for swimming or watering or anything as it's now a danger to terrestrial life around it.
Melania Trump is set to upend the election somewhat by voicing strong support for reproductive rights.
She wrote in her new memoir that a "woman's fundamental right of individual liberty" grants her "the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes."
Australian mining tycoon Andrew Forrest, founder and executive chairman of Fortescue, says it is time for the world to walk away from the "fantasy" of net zero emissions by 2050 and to embrace "real zero" by 2040 instead.
