The Kremlin started this war depending on the Soviet stockpile of weapons they had stored up.
Because of U.S. supplied weapons and training, that stockpile is just about entirely depleted. The Kremlin is now dependent upon how much money they can raise from now on, but that is becoming less and less every month as the sanctions cut off their income.
Putin has turned Russia into a failed state.

I will not argue the 1st half of the sentence, v/c its truth is already evident in #Ukraine: most former Soviet countries have donated their stockpiles to #Ukraine.
Regarding the 2nd part, I cannot see the evidence yet (alas.)

Now, IDK what the 2024 data will show, but apart from a currently slightly lower oil price after the summer in the Western hemisphere, RUS still seems to be doing unexpectedly well, economically speaking.
The switch to more self-sufficiency and eastern suppliers and customers has, alas, gone better than most people would have expected.
True, #Soviet stockpiles might be exhausted, but #Iran, #NorthKorea, and possibly #RedChina seem to be adept providers...

It is sad imo that the EU has provided over 12% of the money to fund Russia's war on #Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion and we won't get into what they did between 2014 and 2022.

The particular reason I'm asking is that a group of Germsn investigative journalists uncovered that #Russia has a #GhostFleet of tankers that carry #RussianOil despite the #EU's #embargo.

#ShadowFleet: yes, I do, too, but they mostly seem to be passing through the #BalticSea, "in plain sight" of the navy of several #NATO countries.
"Open seas" is surely a worthy aim (#BlackSea? 😉,) however the Shadow Fleet is not officially linked to the Kremlin, so why aren't they all searched and (if guilty of being in breach of sanctions,) impounded.

I suspect that the shadow fleet is only delivering Russian oil to countries like Turkey, South Africa, China, India, etc.

Starting a war by detaining ships on the sea is not a good idea at the moment with the electorate of most Western countries unwilling to commit to it.
