@Printdevil@artemis@oddtail I love that scene in the Sopranos where they're in Italy, eating dinner with their Italian "Business associates", trying to act all Italian, saying "Commendatore!" and the Italians are like "wtf?"
@Printdevil@artemis@oddtail@flowerpot wait what? I'm from Houston and always kind of thought of the Texas that is west of Austin as just a bit more Texas than me, living in a suburb indistinguishable from one anywhere in half of America 🤷.
@n1vux@skinnylatte Have you seen the one in #SanFrancisco? It's in North Beach, very near if not across from the Flat Iron building you posted a couple months back. In fact, it's also wedge-shaped and white or off-white, IIRC.
@hellomiakoda as others have mentioned, there may be multiple things going on, which can be different to troubleshoot. Since you mentioned the drivers are dropping support for your chipset, maybe doing something like
pacman -Q | grep nvidia
And then manually installing the version that had been working will get your GUI working again.
@hellomiakoda awesome advice. When I'm done with my Kubernetes set up, running #HomeAssistant and migrating my few devices over is my next step. I've just been scared of it because I hear it is never-ending tweaking, but I've only purchased devices that would work with it for the inevitable switch over.
@killyourfm holy crap,.I didn't know about that re: Scrubs. I guess the DVDs are unaligned, so I'm lucky to have those. Music was half the bit in some cases.
@mattblaze I don't know how to put this, but I think I see more posts from you regarding your (mis)usage of posting to the Fediverse than actual posts. At least as long as I exclude the photography, and shouldn't that be on a pixelfed instance? Well, maybe, I don't know.
Anyway, less apologetic spam would be nice, because I think most people know they can block you or not, and if they don't, it's probably because they just want to engage and you should block them!
@kaia@p my previous setup was a slim laptop with a 3090 eGPU, and it worked well. I didn't benchmark it, but my feeling is that loading the model into RAM took a bit longer via Thunderbolt, but once that was done, token generation performance was pretty much the same as with PCIe.
So, adding it via an eGPU enclosure may be viable. I'm sure there's lots of reports on /r/eGPU or on eGPU.io
@geerlingguy mine was more of a "I decommissioned this domain because it was the potential name of our company eight years ago, so surely we aren't using it anymore..!"
@finlaydag33k@kaia I don't know how they do it, but Obsidian self-updates within the AppImage, so it's at least possible for that to happen. I don't know how viable it is for other projects to follow suit.
On Arch, I find many more things available through the default and AUR package repositories, so my updates are almost completely through that mechanism. A nice side-effect I hadn't realized before.
This is an amazing conversation with Lis Smith on the #NewYorker podcast, where she lays out the problems plaguing the #Democratic party and it's identity.
@p@kaia There's a project or library called "Marp" that defines Markdown syntax for making slides and an #Obsidian plugin called Marp slides that implements it. It can export as PDF and PPTX.
It works alright for quick presos for small audiences. Personally, my dreams of easy, tet-based slide creation always get shattered by the corporate template requirements and/or the need to make simple-looking diagrams to dumb it down for the audience (which are actually pain-staking and time-consuming to create).
