All of those things make your connection to life more visceral. I was thinking just the other day about how learning to play the piano informs how I type, my mental connection to my hands. And how that weirdly connects to learning gymnastics and art and baking.

I usually like that song or the one when something has gone wrong or the one where they accidentally walk into a nightclub and try not to look out of place. Shazam is my co-pilot in these situations.

There are Valentines heart-shaped Ding Dongs (snack cakes) at Safeway (grocery store). That little extra bit of chocolate covered corner is worth it, if you’re wondering.

In biotech this is sometimes referred to as being an SME (Subject Matter Expert). The person who knows the thing and the other thing and why the third thing is a bad idea. It’s usually a non-management track so it can be limiting within a company, but it helps getting the next job.

There was an NYT Opinion piece calling it a losing strategy for American women, so it’s worth considering based on that alone.

Dahlias are a little worse for wear after days with wind and rain, but they’re holding on. Spent some time cutting back broken branches and adjusting stakes, so at least they’re standing up.

If we get frost this week, it might be curtains.

Still waiting on this poppy. The biggest bud has somehow flipped to the other side of the plant, towards the south. Was not expecting that!

It’s such a sculptural plant. It feels like some kind of alien flamenco dancer.
