   I got playfully, (hopefully), accused of imitating someone's accent once when my mouth was dry, so ever since then I'm extra mindful of how I say things.

     I’m sorry that happened to you. It must’ve been upsetting.

     I find that my accent or cadence sometimes slips closer to the person I’m talking to unintentionally. Not in a mocking way - just an adjustment. I pick up accents easily I guess.
