@nihilvt Islam has historically treated Christians in the Middle East far better than Christians in The West. More specifically, the holy sights and churches near the birthplace of Christianity have have often existed without major issues or even protected when the area is under Muslim rule. Still, it’s the enemy of my enemy and that’s the end of the statement. -

I don’t know WHY he’s doing it, but it is fair to say that Islam shares more commonality with Christianity than Judaism, including the belief that Jesus will return to defeat the Antichrist at Armageddon. Obviously they have a weird views of Jesus, including refusal to believe He is The Son of God or that He died and rose again, but they at least respect Him on paper and don’t claim curses on His name like the Jews. -

it's up to the interpretation of the text if you should treat Christians worse or as equals, so you can get mixed signals on this.
IIRC the Quran was written as muhammed went along, and there was a "Mecha period" and Medina Period, initially Muhammed was praised often by jews and Christians, because arabs were usually Pagans, and he gained a lot of respect by both groups for believing in an omnipotent true God, during those times the Quran verses often treated Christians like they share the same Faith, to note he did not really have theological discussions with people educated on the Bible, just Christian Laymen who had Faith but lacked more deeper theological knowledge
however in the Medina Period he managed to gain a lot more influence and started preaching things like the denial of the Trinity and Divinity of Jesus, and he gained an Actual Audience and people that were his followers listened to him moreso than the Church and outside general Christian communities, they all followed Muhammed because they were introduced to the faith by him.
that's when there was a shift in treatment of Christians, he started believing and claiming that he is a prophet and that everyone else is a liar, and that Christians who disagreed with him are preaching lies.
something else to note is that Muhammed often misremembered and mixed together details, like he would mix 2 events in the Old testaments up, and he would mix in Both Biblical and talmudic stories, since he learned of the Abrahamic by talking to both Christians and Jews and mixing them up, (hearing a talmudic story, and assuming it is also included in the Scriptures of the Christians)
something interesting is his criticisms of the church, which were to a good degree valid but not because it was out of this world, not too dissimilar to regular criticisms of the Hypocritical Clergy, he told the Clergy who have access to the Scripture (because at the time, direct access to the Bible was more difficult due to lingual barriers) to read it to "confirm that the Quran affirms it", well we know nowadays that isn't the case, but at the time it was much harder to actually confirm if that was true or not, he had not pushback when he started developing beliefs on his own. -

I’ve met devout Muslims who are largely cool in their view towards Christians, but I can’t help but question if it’s a strategic act. -

there are verses that are "Christians are your closest friends" and in another part there is "you should never trust a Christian, kill them on the spot", they are both there, there was a change in treatment halfway through, which is why some Muslims say that Christians are to be treated well, and the other says they are enemies of Allah.
so there are some muslims who geniuenly think Christians are allies, because the book said so, just like there are the ones that claim they are enemies, so a lot of the time it's 50/50 how they got taught the Quran.
Some interpretations from Muslims claim that there were true followers of the faith who stayed faithful, and those who went off the right path.
Islam claims that there was one faith that always stayed the same since the fall of man, and the Prophets serve as refreshes rather than adding something new, islam is a very practical religion, there is actual "true faith" but a lot more emphasis is placed on how much Good you did vs how much bad you did, there is looking into your heart of hearts, but it's not as emphasized as Christianity.BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -

He's lying. In the correct periods would be chronological order. As in Mohammad was a child then he started aging until the end would be his death. He then went to Medina where 3 tribes of jews that didn't get along. Where he started robbing traders and eventually got a big enough following that he toppled one of the tribes in medina which got him more follower. He eventally took over medina robbed some more then took over Mecah using spy's and terror. Then he got poisoned by a slave he took and died.

Later verse take precedents over earlier verse and muslims don't read the quran that if for the imams. There is a direct correlation between ramadan one of there holidays and terrorist attacks it happens every year.
