     It will NEVER happen if everyone stays home and doesn't vote like they did last time.

     The MAJORITY of registered voters DID NOT VOTE in 2024.

     It isn't an issue with voting. This is all an issue of NOT VOTING.

     There is no chance for a #BlueWave if everyone stays home again.

     And this is going to happen again, because the apathy is already here. Just look at the Democrats right now.

     My favorite part is people convinced that it's only 3 years and whatever comes next will be a 'great undoing'.
     Even if it's that easy, ain't gonna be that easy.
     "We have no clue how to restart ALL those global welfare, aid, and scientific ventures and programs, so we'll just focus on putting a fully-staffed Starbucks in every Congressperson's office to bring the economy back."

     The damage will take generations to see begin to shift.

     @jeffowski "then we must build a system..." Those few words represent a big undertaking. Luckily the US still has a robust legal system despite the DoJ and a stacked Supreme Court. They also have "free speech", and the heroes of Minneapolis as examples. Democracy is imperfect and is increasingly abused by politicians. Democracy is unwell, but not yet dead - and so far it seems to work OK in other countries. Perhaps the US is sick other ways that need fixing before looking to change the system.

     That is said with a LOT of privilege.

     As someone that works and lives within the immigrant community, there are people being picked up off the streets and "disappeared" by ICE. These are LEGAL immigrants too, that have done NOTHING. They followed ALL LAWS. Think the US is still working for everyone?

     The US Constitution has already been destroyed. That's the thing people don't get. THERE ARE NO MORE RULES/LAWS.

     You have wealth or class protecting you, and it's obvious.

     If someone is stopping because of that, they have created a situation where they will create justifications for their inactions.

     @GGMcBG @jeffowski I distinctly remember people saying the same or similar things after Biden won over Trump in 2020 about undoing the previous 4 years. It's true Biden had a hostile Congress, but he didn't put up much of a fight.

     If Trump and the current Congress are allowed to stay in power until Jan 2028, it will be far too late. It will take decades to return to any semblance of democracy. All the mechanisms for change will have been stripped, including free/fair elections & the judiciary

     @jeffowski it's not that deep, this just a random post I saw and enjoyed but didn't feel like copying manually in the moment, and I thought I'd let you know why, at least. Now I definitely don't want to because I'm getting attacked for it and that is scary and exhausting.

     Just leave me be, like damn, just calm down. I often make more posts about the erosion of democracy anyway, so really there is no issue here.

     Do you realize how low the stakes are here?

     Politics isn't "hmm today I will boost this image because it will get seven likes on mastodon", politics is about showing up, protesting, contacting politicians, proposing solutions, deconstructing evil, and so much more than callout posts or senseless toxic arguing over the internet.
     Do you want to be correct, or do you just want to Win? This isn't about being truthful, you're just bashing away not wanting to hear anything back! I can't even contsructively criticize your posts without getting flamed!

     I like the images and videos you post, but this is just toxic, and very far from what I expect from allies. "Be excellent to each other" goes out the window whenever someone slightly displeases you? I will not share media that I get from people like you, who extrapolate someone's entire worth and political value like you do, to any of my friends, because I want to be excellent to them, and this, this is downright dangerous. I hope you see what you are doing wrong now, because I can't point it out more obviously for you.
