      Like imagine Drew DeVault fighting it out with the Wayland dev, and it's got some heavy guitar riffs like it's Guilty Gear or some shit. And the stages could be a Linux con, the apartment complex parking lot, Anthrocon, the vape shop, Micro Center, the possibilities are endless.

        POSIX
        The Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX; IPA: ) is a family of standards specified by the IEEE Computer Society for maintaining compatibility between operating systems. POSIX defines application programming interfaces (APIs), along with command line shells and utility interfaces, for software compatibility (portability) with variants of Unix and other operating systems. POSIX is also a trademark of the IEEE. POSIX is intended to be used by both application and system developers. As of POSIX 2024, the standard is aligned with the C17 language standard. Name Originally, the name "POSIX" referred to IEEE Std 1003.1-1988, released in 1988. The family of POSIX standards is formally designated as IEEE 1003 and the ISO/IEC standard number is ISO/IEC 9945. The standards emerged from a project that began in 1984 building on work from related activity in the /usr/group association. Richard Stallman suggested the name POSIX to the IEEE instead of the former IEEE-IX. The committee found it more easily pronounceable and memorable, and thus adopted...

      @verita84 @PurpCat @phnt @voltrina Defend what?

      The people listed at the top don't appear to have anything to do with Linux - I only recognize rms.

      rms develops GNU and has never submitted a Linux patch.

      At the bottom I see some extremely evil proprietary software developers and don't see how they are meant to be superior.

      @PurpCat @phnt @verita84 @voltrina Most of the work on Asahi GNU/Linux doesn't have much to do with Linux - Linux patches are only a certain part of development - there are many other parts.

      It is utter stupidity to reward an enemy of humanity by purchasing a expensive fruity toy from them that is handcuffed to the point that apple can decide that their computers will refuse to run GNU/Linux and implement that.

      It is much more useful to port GNU boot to more computers and write missing free VBIOS's, Wi-Fi software and EC software etc (and possibly even less work to do so), but of course not.

      @PurpCat @phnt @verita84 @voltrina microsoft will also deny booting GNU/Linux on WC's if they can get away with it (but usually they just make it difficult, rather than make it impossible, as all of such cases are reported to antitrust regulators).

      For many years it was not possible to boot GNU/Linux on windows ARM tablets/laptops until microsoft signed a proprietary UEFI loader program that would load whatever and some ARM devices support GNU/Linux as an OS option.

      If you only have Linux, you'll have a computer that won't work.

      even the Windows ARM laptops can be unlocked and can openly run GNU/Linux without having to do fuckery. You can wipe out Windows on those and only have Linux unlike on Macbooks.

        Microsoft in Israel commercial.
        from Observation_Enjoyer
        Yes, it's real. There is a whole series of promo/commercials starring this fine upstanding Israeli. I think a contest to fill in the book title and author and the [Botttom Text] is in order here. So many options. You have the oddly prescient Hamas parasailers, degeneracy, Microsoft, Israel. Endless possibilities.

        YEP, that's where Bill's R&D HQ is. It's where the data MS scrapes on you goes. It's also where they Run Electionguard from. You know, the central network that SAFEGUARDS THE ELECTIONS everywhere in the "Democratic West". (Fair Use- For educational purposes)

      @PurpCat @nach @Mister_Sunshine @verita84 @voltrina Neither. I don't want to have the swastika show up on some random holiday they have. And both have the tendency to think about maybe spying on their users (for "bad people" reasons). I would rather not use a computer.
