  In France you have to go to driving school, and you have to take it with a state examiner.
  
  On my driving exam, we were going up a road and there was this outdoor market on the side of the road so people were crossing. I was cruising at about 25mph, not *slow* because again I'm an experienced driver, I'm not paranoid at all, I'm just cruising because that's what you do when there's people on the road. Lady was shouting "that's not the speed limit, go faster, go faster" and I just said "not safe, there's people, we'll get there when we get there" (I'm stubborn like that).
  
  Well, she passed me, but after that the instructor (who was in the back seat) said her little tactic was very out-of-line and if she doesn't pass me he's going to report her to the board of examiners.

  That is so interesting. WA state requires people to go to driving school if they want a license. AZ just requires 10hrs behind the wheel if you want to take your test with your driving instructor and avoid the DMV. People get freaked out with the DMV clerk and would rather pay $600 for lessons and take it with someone they're comfortable with.

  @madison @NotoriousDOG @HockeyDoxie @KidKnievel @Red-Potato @lord_nougat @cjd @Escoffier in indiana, if you take drivers ed, you don't ahve to retake hte written test every time, but all that's needed to get a license is to take the test ot get a permit which is a knowlege test, then hold it for a month mor two, and get so many hours logged on the card they give you, then schedule a test and take it.

  In France, the pass rate is about 50%, they make you do everything, and if you take your test in a car with an automatic, you get a license with a badge that says you're only allowed to drive an automatic.
  
  When I took the test, the lady kept yelling at me to try to make me nervous and screw up. I did okay because I was already an experienced driver.

A 70's Lincoln i was honestly amazed i.passed the test
