Hey, strength training friends, I have questions:
- do you do pyramid sets?
- do you have a programme you like for this?
- are they, in your experience, better for hypertrophy than 5x5?
- how have you found the strength gainz?
Hey, strength training friends, I have questions:
@mthx Thank you! I've seen this study to that effect: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1360859223000852
Extra resources are helpful!
From the study, it does sound like, in my specific circumstance, it might be a more efficient use of my time to improve hypertrophy, if only because I'm currently bolting on assistance lifts for that, and I hate curls so much. :D
@HauntedOwlbear Jeff Nipard (YouTube) posted a video last year that address some studies of straight sets, pyramid sets, and reverse pyramid sets. From what I recall there was no significant difference identified in the studies.

I personally do straight sets but in all fairness I don't do my own programming. I follow programming generated from an app called Fitbod.
@brian thank you, this looks like a fantastic resource
Check out Huberman Lab podcasts for episodes featuring sports science and strength training guests. This recent episode (below) was particularly interesting comparing different approaches, sets, reps, rest intervals, recovery, etc. VERY long episodes...I listen at 2x. But chock full of info (almost overwhelming, TBH).
