Yeah I can't say I've had much interest in fashion, 3D printing caught my eye personally. Ideally the initial costs could be mitigated by splitting them among interested parties and get better quality equipment. I'm sure there's a demand to avoid the typical censored corp bullshit, just not sure how much $ wise. It'd also help with the initial marketing/reach, we're just a small instance over here after all. Could integrate other instances into it from the start whilst splitting profits accordingly. It's definitely an interesting option imo anyway.

@Sui @Decayable @Formerly_Trucks @KiKi I've mostly arrived at the mindset of "If you build it, they will come" when it comes to jumping into a commercial project, but the market research does seem to be the hardest part of figuring out the feasibility of most business ventures I've been interested in. I only started researching garment printing because I was mostly interested in finding industries that have been outsourced over time. From what I gather, scaling up production was what pushed industries overseas, so I figure they could be brought back into domestic production as one man super-autism hobbyist projects. Screen printing was something that I looked into initially, but material cost for keeping stock on shelves was too high for a process that wasn't very exciting to me, especially in an industry as saturated as fast fashion. Of the industries I've actually got an interest in, the only two that have stuck with me that could possibly pay for themselves in the long run are custom textiles and old school platen press processes. I've figured out all my budgetary constraints so far, but the biggest hurdle I'm having right now is figuring out the appropriate space to put it all.

@Sui @Decayable @Formerly_Trucks @KiKi A $900 setup for vinyl transfer will maybe get you a couple dozen T-shirts a day if you're working your ass off and planning your workflow. At this price, it's enough to buy a decent old used vinyl plotter and a cheap transfer press (avoid hobby plotters), but a $900 DTF printer is gonna be hobbyist grade and about as fast as a laser printer from 20 years ago. Supplies for hobby machines (ink and powder) are gonna eat your profits as a light snack and ask for more, but if you don't care about getting your money back (or the quality of the final product), a desktop setup will print enough to satisfy a demand of a dozen or so prints in a weekend (depending on size). If you're shooting for a larger volume and want to keep the footprint small, you'll probably want to budget at least $3k for a printer, and it should pay for itself in a couple years.

3k sounds like quite a heavy investment without knowing what kind of market is interested first, cheers for the info 🍻. Paying itself off would also depend on what's being sold too. I'm sure people will pay more than spring if it's censorship free and custom, especially if they know it's to help pay off the investment costs rather than just being a jew.

@Sui @Decayable @Formerly_Trucks @KiKi I've been researching printing presses of all sorts, and a $900 DTF printer setup is not gonna do any appreciable volume to pay itself off, and it's not gonna have much use beyond small scale prototyping.

Yeah I don't trust AI answers but they're usually fairly good as a starting point, what's your estimate get to?

Yeah it's insane they can't even do their entire business model properly and just keep taking in more orders. I still want to try to get a blanket but maybe I'll look somewhere else. I got a custom blanket for my gran once so I could probably look for something.
Damn how much would it cost to get a press for putting designs on shirts anyway?

No and it's been over half a year. The first one went missing over xmas, we got the mugs from the order eventually though. E-mailed them and they acted all arsey about doing us a favour by reprinting it for free once, like nigger you lost it and we've already paid for it.

Got one of those with an integrated suppressor, those are fun
definitely not practical for high volumes though and likely not lethal on larger targets

@d0c40r0 @Decayable @Folklore @Formerly_Trucks @KiKi @Sui @ForbiddenDreamer @JustJohnny @christmasman They go up to 50 cal from what I've seen. That becomes silly at that point like bro just get a gun.

@BowsacNoodle @d0c40r0 @Decayable @Folklore @Formerly_Trucks @KiKi @Sui @ForbiddenDreamer @JustJohnny Biggest draw of one of those 1200fps 50 cal air rifles is how quiet they are without having to jump through tax stamp hoops, otherwise yeah, just get an actual firearm.

@d0c40r0 @BowsacNoodle @Decayable @Folklore @Formerly_Trucks @KiKi @Sui @ForbiddenDreamer @christmasman I've seen some air rifles people used to take down a boar at close range. HYPOTHETICALLY something like that might work well ad an assassin gun. Spring only would be good.
