   Right, even as a firm "sola scriptura" guy I find it incredulous that all, or even most, of Christendom was just wrong on something like that for ~2 millenia in spite of promises from God to preserve his words and teachings. (This is a similar issue I take with CI)

     So I have serious doubts.
