@zaitcev user count still way down and people leaving are at the threshold where they dont have to go back. I pop on twitter every now and then and it is just feels shitty
Who cares? I didn't want to talk to them on Twitter, I still don't want to talk to them on BlueSky. Their value beyond the fleeting entertainment of bullying is minimal at best. Popularity contests are gay.
@sun@Hoss I am relieved we're not having another tsunami of normies, the ones that stuck around from last time are up to all kinds of shit I'm not particularly interested in or fond of as somebody who doesn't do the irlname+headshot+bio style of social media 🤢
@gray@clubcyberia.co@sun@shitposter.world Bluesky's main advantage is that in terms of user experience it's basically Twitter 10 years ago which is what actually got people to sign up for Twitter in the first place
@gray@clubcyberia.co@sun@shitposter.world What's interesting to see if X, formerly known as Twitter, has managed to tank it's own UX bad enough to "overcome" its own network effect. It's certainly possible for a site to do this (Digg)
A cornerstone of shitlib ideology is that you should be at the mercy of a violent decentralized HR department for the entire world via Twitter mobs; mobs whose most zealous members ironically have never had gainful employment in their entire lives and live off the dole.
@TimeSpent@sun my twitter are just nude women. There are just so many nude women you can see on your screen before it gets worse than reading politics and actually start to be physically painful to scroll
@w0rm@TimeSpent@sun there's a limited amount of energy since it elicits a automatic biological response instinctively seeing a naked woman. When you scroll endlessly it just drains your vital life energy
For me, the fediverse is the closest thing we will ever have to a truly #freespeech#absolutist environment because the lack of advertisers, lack of freemium/tiered accounts w/ billing info, lack of paid and on-duty moderators, and decentralized protocol that facilitates ban evasion.
Normies: "but we don't wanna be on an unmoderated platform with racists and weeaboos and conspiracy theorists!!"
Those same normies get pissed anytime a reddit gang downvoots them or a discord mod kicks them out, innit.
"But our corporbland platform has a zillion users and your shitty groupchat has less than 100 people!!"
Here's the thing - spicy hot takes that go viral in unmoderated platforms eventually get quote-mined and plagiarized to hell by reaction youtubers and podcast bros who need more content.
That's good. We are the ones writing content for brainless brandless influzombies with nothing to say and nothing to sell. We control that conversation. 🔥
@sun I don't mind the lack of twitter refugees. I want fedi to remain niche, and I would even like it if the crossposters fucked off all together. The people on here actively using bluesky are the loudest mfers that complain about fediverse while being part of the problem.
I don't know if it's happening to anyone else, but I'm getting follow requests from mfers at minds.com now :^)
>Normies: "but we don't wanna be on an unmoderated platform with racists and weeaboos and conspiracy theorists!!" Nobody was ever making them. They just show up and gentrify shady corners of the Internet where the outcasts dwell after screenshots of content start going viral in normalfag circles. See: 4chan.
@jihadjimmy@sun Libshits are so retarded they'd rather flock another private company than go to a place that's truly free. libshits don't deserve freedom
Those daily million users are 90% bots that I surely hope will make the platform so unusable these whiny faggots will have to seethe and go back to the other proprietary walled garden that is Twitter.
The #fediverse, by design, cannot provide a Social Media haven for many people. #Federation as it is implemented today with ActivityPub, relies on small instances with few users and little traffic in order for the copying-process of posts not to create high costs, to be paid by the site-owners. Alternatively, one may have a federation of a few big instances. But how would that be different form the silo of X-world?
