     @CloudyMrs No one said it was the most racist thing anyone has ever seen. It is, however, inappropriate and inconsiderate; and an example of behavior that makes it harder for people who aren’t white to have nice experiences here.

     @Mabande @OrionKidder it has nothing to do with disbelief. It's a note on the futility of shouting into a social media void. Express your rage on here if you find it cathartic, but know that lots of folk curate their feed to filter out rage, whatever inspired it. It's the rage that's being avoided rather than the sentiment behind it. Social media produces binary responses. If I'm not perceived to be 100% with you in every way, then I must be 100% against you. It's a sad state of affairs.

     @OrionKidder Yep, @CloudyMrs's "craft club ladies" are more annoyed by "that loud darkie coming here shouting" than the nazi skins at other tables harassing him and his mates.
     "Why's he so angry? All _I've_ ever chosen to see is my knitting and Pernicia's photos of her lovely kitten. So, our Shawn hates forries, but he's never done anything to _me_. And because I choose to not see what happens to people I don't know, and I refuse to believe them when they tell what some people do to them."

     @CloudyMrs @Mabande We are judging you by your words and the attitudes that underlie them. We're allowed.

     And as a fellow white person, I am going to say: you are, indeed, "the enemy." MLK called people like you "the white moderate," people who say they care about racism but both won't ever use their not insignificant social power to do anything about it AND will actively tell POC to quiet down.

     A lot of POC and other marginalized people consider you worse than outright bigots. That's a fact.
