     @matty This is why I keep telling people to treat politics as transactional. Fuck holding a politician in high regard. They lie and do exactly the opposite of what you want behind your back. They've been doing this , well I dunno since probably the 80s.
     
     What *could* work is gun rights group style action where there are specific things that the group says "you must do this or you will not win, and if you fail us, we will ensure you lose"
     
     The key is having requirements which are doable, and having punishments which are obvious.

     But I think it synchronizes well with what a lot of smart people like @TrevorGoodchild were saying at that point. He was basically winging it in 2016.
     
     The part that is interesting now is that there are a substantial amount of powerful people that have shown they want to kill him. So this is not a lark for him anymore.
     
     If he simply dedicates his time to taking those bad people out of power, because those are the people that also enjoy oppressing me the most, it would almost certainly be an improvement.
     
     And if he doesn't get rid of them, they're certainly going to go after him in the future. I think immediate post 2020 was the last stable point for him.

     I think the oligarchs can read the tea leaves better than we'd like to admit. I think they see their power waning, so they're already stuffing their pockets and updating passports.      So the question then is: why is he saying this? and who is he saying this for?
     
     I wonder what percentage of people who voted for him think he had the wrong people? When you talk to highly politically engaged RW people *they* think that, but that's probably a tiny amount.
     
     So between "he's saying it - TO FOOL YOU!" and "he's saying this to someone else who matters more", I tend to lean to the latter. So the question is who?

     The only reason why I think about this at all, is because if Trump believes they will come after him unless out of power, he will take actions to do that. ( all that remains is the 'if' )

I don't think it's going to be a I-want-to-habben-habbeninging, but think about where we are: he was almost killed and it basically looks like the secret service let it happen on purpose as the best case scenario.
     
     Unless he actually wants to die, ( which is not impossible ) doing something to make that not happen will be something he wants done.

     The way to do that is to create a separate division (with zero actual powers) in the same organization. Assign all troublemakers to that division and staff the "real one" with your guys. Then relocate the "troublemaker division" to the far northern corner of Alaska. Remote work not allowed. Wait for them to quit on their own.
