     @augustus @sim in the video I saw on Twitter the police were doing exactly jack and shit about the riots, I saw video where they just watched guys fighting with machetes and made no attempt to stop them. another video where white people were throwing concrete at them and they were just attempting to block the concrete with riot shields. I found no video of them attempting to actually stop anything.

     @augustus I guess we will see how this goes. But this is the problem when the police and government have enabled the destruction of social cohesion and law and order. It leaves me uneasy for the future.

     @sim @augustus there were so many people rioting that I don't think police could do anything. what is england allegedly supposed to do in that situation, send in the army or something?
     
     I think they were just putting up barriers and hoping that did something.

     @sun @sim last week there was a video released of police detaining a muslim who kicked off in an airport and was threatening people, and the arrest video showed the officer kicking the muslim in the head on the floor. the police and politicians instantly crumbled and suspended the officer after mass muslim protests. policing is fucked here.

     @sun @augustus They could start by doing their jobs properly. To uphold the law, to prevent murders, rapes and thefts. To not cower to minorities or waste money. To address the problem behind the mass murder that happened and to be open to us that this is a problem that they understand. To support the people, especially those impacted by this.

     @joey @augustus @sim I realize this is kind of a smartass answer but if you live there are you just supposed to wait for the riot to end, I mean why even pay taxes at that point because that is the most important function of the government and the reason you give them the power to be violent

     @beardalaxy @augustus @sim my understanding of the order of events was:
     
     some guy kills and injures several kids
     there is a vigil for the kids and people with machetes attempt to attack the vigil (for some reason in a video I saw, two people with machetes are attacking each other, not a vigil).
     there is a riot later, I read it was started because whtie people attacked a mosque in retaliation because they assumed the attacker was muslim (can't find any video of that) I saw video of black and seemingly arab-ish looking people rioting
     after that I see video of white people attacking police with bricks and concrete

     @sun @augustus @sim what should happen is that the king should just like execute the dude who killed those kids on the spot. but the royal family doesn't do anything except drugs and benefit from pedo rings so that's unlikely.
