SuperLutheran (kicky half) (superlutheran@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 13-Jul-2024 21:28:27 JST SuperLutheran (kicky half) I'm starting to suspect that steady state cardio gets a bad reputation because the critics get scared of how hard this hits. As for me, I've been feeling a whole lot better and tougher since taking up jogging again.
Seriously, Gilmore is right - there's no trick, there's no easy way, you just go out and do it. As a result, my Karate has improved, my knees feel stronger, everything is just *better.*

i recall a 4chan greentext from a martial arts fella describing what he called "road work" meaning the effects that years of 2+ hours of running on asphalt did for his fighting game...
reportedly, when he started doing martial arts the other practitioners couldn't believe his stamina... and just how hard his shins were from nothing more than such running...
he said these so-called black belts and other fighters lacked endurance... stamina... hardness of body... and that he was disappointed that he was able to keep up if not defeat these guys for simple lack of physical conditioning. i never forgot that. you make it sound like "road work" really works, eh?

What piqued my interest was a runner saying he finished a half marathon slightly faster than his normal time and he wasn't gassed. -

Run walk interval helps me go from sedentary to 5k pretty quickly. Then it's a matter of upping run duration and trimming walk. I can't just stick with it once I'm easily doing 5k+ runs because it feels like it's not hard enough.
