@UnCL3 @d0c40r0 @LostShakerOfSalt @rher Why the fuck are you even here, grandpa? Where are your kids? Your grandkids? Shouldn't you be playing a heated shuffleboard match somewhere?

@d0c40r0 @LostShakerOfSalt @rher @WoodshopHandman Well, tbf I didn't mention that the 34 years was a combined total.
9 years for the first one who gained 80 fkn pounds in the first 6 years. She was 23 when I married her FFS; I was 32. I met my current wife in '99.

pro tip: if you say “I’ve been married to my wife for 34 years” people don’t think you’re quite as insane

@UnCL3 @WoodshopHandman @d0c40r0 @LostShakerOfSalt @rher It's good to have land.

@BowsacNoodle @WoodshopHandman @d0c40r0 @LostShakerOfSalt @rher True. It's only five acres, but I bought it raw, cleared it, ran electricity, put in a well that's as good as Ozarka bottled spring water, and built the house. The cool thing? It backs up directly to a 42,000 acre commercial pine forest.

@UnCL3 @WoodshopHandman @d0c40r0 @LostShakerOfSalt @rher Good deal. Sad I didnt pull the trigger on the 8 acre + shack next to a national forest in 2018. It was like 30k and in BFE.

It's going to vary...they hit water at 40', and dug until they hit 120' for storage. That plus wiring it up to my generator (2 months before I got the electricity because no one is in a hurry to do anything around here), it was just under $5k. If I had rural water run there (about 1500' from the house's pad), it would have cost around $6.5k. Then I'd have to pay for treated water at $50 a month. On the well I get my money back for the well in less than 10 years using that metric.

@iwetoddid @LostShakerOfSalt @rher @UnCL3 @d0c40r0 @BowsacNoodle @WoodshopHandman I thought it was a deal. My buddy nearby had to go to 120' before hitting water. That got expensive. He did not check for ground water using dousing rods like I did. He just told them to "drill here".
When they showed up to my place to start, I saw the guy with one copper dousing rod and searching for the other. I gave him mine and told him "right here". He checked it and the rods were spinning like a helicopter and he said "No shit!" I went to get something to eat and when I came back he said "We hit water at 40' and it's BEAUTIFUL water."

@iwetoddid @LostShakerOfSalt @rher @UnCL3 @d0c40r0 @UnCL3 @WoodshopHandman The IFLS crowd says it is, but their opinions mean very little to me. It's just something I've never explored. I am interested in the slightly esoteric aspects of water, so I should look into this.
