     A recurring theme is the question of what makes us human.

     One thing, I love about Egan is:

     Unlike many of the masters, say Lem or Asimov, he truly cares for his protagonists. They are never just plot devices or elements to bring a message across.

     They are heart and centre of his stories and novels. I love that.

     I did recognize the mathematics part of the book, the #Mandelbrot set from chaos theory. 😉

     OK, here goes mine. “Contact” by Carl Sagan. It has the perfect mix of science and tension through all the book.
